Patricia Clarkson and Canadian filmmaker Ruba Nadda have paired up
once again (after the 2009 romantic drama "Cairo Time") for the man vs.
man and man vs. nature thriller, "October Gale." A violent spring storm
brings a mysterious, injured man (Scott Speedman) to the doorstep of
recently widowed doctor Helen Matthews (Clarkson) who lives isolated
from the mainland. But with him he brings trouble the pair needs to
weather through in order to ensure their survival.
film's full synopsis reads: "During a violent April storm, a young man,
unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound, washes up on the rocky
shore of Helen Matthews's remote island cottage. Helen, a recently
widowed doctor, takes him in and saves his life. But the storm, which
has cut her off from the mainland, doesn’t stop the people who shot him
from finishing the job."
The film is screening next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
