Cas & Dylan, the directorial debut from Jason Priestley, has been selected as the best Canadian film in the 10th edition of TIFF’s Film Circuit People’s Choice Awards.
The Film Circuit national outreach program brings Canadian and
international independent films to communities across Canada. The
program has 174 groups in 152 locations, with the winning films selected
by audiences. The 2013 Film Circuit program saw record attendance, with
339,376 people attending 2,131 screenings.
Cas & Dylan screened in over 40 communities in Canada with the Film Circuit program, with over 5,500 people in attendance at the viewings. Cas & Dylan stars Tatiana Maslany and Richard Dreyfuss, and was written by Jesse Gabe.
Produced by Toronto-based Montefiore Films, Cas & Dylan
was released theatrically in Canada today after a festival run last fall
and winter. It is distributed in Canada by Pacific Northwest Pictures
and in the U.S. by Breakthrough Entertainment.
The Film Circuit People’s Choice award for best international film went to Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine.
